What is aquaponics and how does it work?

Aquaponics is a closed-loop system that combines fish farming (aquaculture) with plant
cultivation (hydroponics). Fish produce waste, which is converted by bacteria into nutrients
for the plants. The plants clean the water, which is then returned to the fish. It’s a selfsustaining,
eco-friendly cycle.

How is it different from hydroponics or traditional farming?

Unlike hydroponics, aquaponics doesn’t use synthetic fertilizers—nutrients come naturally
from fish waste. Compared to conventional farming, aquaponics doesn’t require soil, uses
up to 90% less water, and produces zero harmful runoff.

Technology & Automation

What is automated in the system?

The system can automate fish feeding, temperature and lighting control, pH and oxygen
monitoring, water flow, and alert notifications. You can manage everything remotely via a
smart app.

What’s the water and energy consumption like?

Aquaponics uses up to 90% less water than soil farming. Energy use depends on system
size but is optimized for efficiency. Renewable power sources (like solar panels) can be
integrated.

What happens in case of a power outage?

Backup batteries or generators can be added to ensure system stability. In critical cases,
the system can be temporarily operated manually.

Growing & Farming

What fish and plants can I grow?

Common fish include tilapia, catfish, trout, and carp. Ideal plants are leafy greens, herbs,
tomatoes, strawberries, and chili peppers. We’ll help you tailor the system to your needs.

Do I need to use antibiotics or chemicals?

No. The system is designed as a natural, balanced ecosystem. We do not use pesticides,
synthetic fertilizers, or chemicals—your produce is clean and safe.

How much can I grow?

Yields depend on the number of modules. One basic module can produce around 20–30
kg of vegetables per month and several dozen kilograms of fish per year. The system is
fully scalable.
